Welcome to another edition of WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results. The TOP 3 this weekend were Lone Survivor, Ride Along and The Nut Job.
If this week looks familiar to you, that's because it is. The Top 3 this weekend are exactly the same as last week. Same movies, same order. Unfortunately, the new release, I, Frankenstein, was unable to make waves, coming in at #6, behind Frozen and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
Let's take a look at how the Top 3 did this weekend...
1. RIDE ALONG
The new comedy, Ride Along, dropped almost 50% from its opening, but still managed to come in first during this slow weekend with $21.3 million. This puts its total at $75.5 million, an impressive amount for a comedy this earlier in the year and only in its second week.
2. LONE SURVIVOR
The new animated comedy, The Nut Job, continued strong this week, bringing in $12.1 million. This brings its two-week total up to $40.1 million, coming very close to matching its $42 million production budget. It still has next week to bring in some decent sales before the much anticipated The Lego Movie hits theaters on February 7th.
Here's a quick rundown of this weekends results:
#1 - Ride Along - $21,299,495
#2 - Lone Survivor - $12,900,960
#3 - The Nut Job - $12,101,118
