#1 Drive/Attack the Block

I conclude my top ten movies with a tie for the number one spot. Each film is enjoyable for completely different reasons. Check out my previous entries for both films.

DRIVE

Attack The Block

#2 Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

Great entry into the Mission: Impossible series by director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille). Just pure fun from beginning to end.

#3 Super 8

Really good movie, great breakout performances by the younger cast. Fun movie that'll put you in awe at certain moments. A great homage to Spielberg films of the past like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Director J.J. Abrams honors the director in a way that it almost feels as if this is a film Spielberg himself would make.

#4 The Descendants

Emotional comedy about a man dealing with his dying wife. Great performance by George Clooney. It's already won a bunch of awards. Definitely check it out.

#5 Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Intriguing prequel to the original Planet of the Apes series. Chronicling the origins of the ape takeover. An amazing performance by the great Andy Serkis (he plays Caesar, the leader of the ape revolution), who turned a CGI ape into a character you could actually care about.

#6 Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows pt. II

Gripping emotional finale to a huge epic series.

#7 The Muppets

Another comedy, that will make you feel like a kid while watching it. Glad The Muppets were brought back to life by Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) who wrote and starred in this.

#8 Bridesmaids

Funny comedy, stand out performances by Jon Hamm (tv's Mad Men) and Melissa McCarthy (tv's Mike & Molly).

#9 Captain America: The First Avenger

Fun comic book movie, true to the nature of the character.

#10 Submarine

Odd indie coming of age comedy, perfectly cast.

Top Ten Movies of 2011

In the next couple of days I will be posting my top ten movies of 2011. Just my personal opinion of what I enjoyed this year. I sadly didn't see as many movies as I would have liked to see but still saw a decent amount. Also this will only be movies I saw in theaters because honestly I can't remember all the movies I saw on DVD/Bluray as well as in theaters. I have my movies ticket stubs so that makes it a lot easier to figure out. I'll explain what I liked about them in two sentences or less.
