Welcome to another edition of WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results. The TOP 3 this weekend were The Amazing Spider-Man, Heaven Is For Real, and The Other Woman.
Free Comic Book Day weekend saw the release of Sony's new superhero film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which took the top spot this week, dominating the box office. The new comedy, The Other Woman, grabbed the #2 spot, while the inspirational film, Heaven Is For Real, held on to a spot in the Top 3 again this week.
FROZEN UPDATE: In its 24th week on the big screen, Frozen has finally reached $400 million domestically. This brings its worldwide total $1.169 billion.
Let's take a look at how the Top 3 did this weekend...
1. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 crushed the box office this weekend, bringing in a whopping $91.6 million. This is quite a jump from the first film's opening weekend of $68 million. Combined with the foreign grosses, ASM 2 managed to bring in $369.1 million. Now, that's what I call "amazing".
2. THE OTHER WOMAN
This year's newest comedy, The Other Woman, starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton, brought in another $14.4 million this weekend. That brings its worldwide total up to $93.1 million on a $40 million production budget.
3. HEAVEN IS FOR REAL
The most recent inspirational film, Heaven Is For Real, continued to hang on to a spot in the Top 3, beating out Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This weekend, it brought in $8.6 million domestically, which puts its worldwide total at $66.6 million on a mere $12 million production budget.
