R.I.P. Tony Scott

Please listen to this while reading.

We are still in shock here at Previously Untitled over the suicide of the director Tony Scott. He jumped off the Vincent Thomas bridge in San Pedro just south of Downtown LA.
Reports have also come in that he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. He is most well known for the films Man on Fire and Top Gun. But, I will always remember him for the film True Romance. Which, I watch every Valentine's day.

Tony was also known to the edgier director in style and story choice over; his brother Ridley who is known more for his more traditional style. And yes, I've always considered myself more of a Ridley Scott fan than a Tony Scott fan. But, on days like these that opinion doesn't matter. Tony Scottt has influenced any growing filmmaker in one way or another. Tony Scott, you're so cool.

Eli Burnside

I share many of the same thoughts as my fellow blogger. It's always sad to hear news like this. Especially when it's someone you looked up to.

His films are always great entertainment and constantly kept you on your feet. I really enjoy his collaborations with Denzel Washington (5 in total, most recently Unstoppable and the taking of Pelham 123).

His film True Romance which was written by Quentin Tarantino is truly one of my favorite films and even though it consist of drugs and violence it truly is one of the most romantic films I've ever seen. If I had a girlfriend I would hope she felt the same way about this truly great film from a great director. He truly will be missed not only as a filmmaker but as someone who brought emotions to life on screen.
