Weekend Roundup: Box Office Results for 3/28-3/30

Welcome to another edition of WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results.  The TOP 3 this weekend were Divergent, Noah, and Muppets Most Wanted.

This week's newest release, Noah, enjoy a successful opening at the box office, bringing in over $43 million.  This caused last weeks top two films to bump down to the #2 and #3 spots this week, each with respectable grosses.

FROZEN UPDATE:  In its 19th week in theaters, Frozen has officially broke another record, bringing its worldwide total up to $1.072 billion, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and has made its way into the Top 10 highest-grossing films of all time, beating out Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and the previously highest-grossing animated film, Toy Story 3.

Let's take a look at how the Top 3 did this weekend...

1. NOAH

Darren Aronofsky's prayers have definitely been answered this weekend, as his Biblical epic, Noah, takes the top spot, bringing in an impressive $43.7 million.  Combine this with the foreign grosses, this new Russell Crowe film managed to bring in $94.8 million worldwide on a $125 million production budget in just three days.  Crowe has been on a role lately with the success of Les MisérablesMan of Steel, and now Noah.  This is also a great step for Harry Potter alum, and rising star, Emma Watson.

2. DIVERGENT

In its second week out, Divergent continues to do well at the box office, bringing in another $25.6 million.  That puts it at a total of $94.4 million.  There's no doubt in my mind that this film will become a franchise.

3. MUPPETS MOST WANTED

The latest installment of the new Muppets franchise, Muppets Most Wanted, arrived in theaters last weekend and brought in an additional $11.3 million on its second week out.  It has officially brought in $33.1 million domestically and $40.6 million worldwide, on a $50 million production budget.  This is a very slow start for this movie and hopefully it can bounce back in the coming weeks.

Here's a quick rundown of this weekends results:

#1 - Noah - $43,720,472

#2 - Divergent - $25,619,578

#3 - Muppets Most Wanted - $11,279,128
