Welcome to another edition of WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results. The TOP 3 this weekend were Divergent, Noah, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
This week, Marvel's newest installment in Phase 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, dominated the box office. This caused last weeks top two films to bump down to the #2 and #3 spots this week, each with significantly lower grosses than CA:TWS.
FROZEN UPDATE: In its 20th week on the big screen, Frozen has brought in a worldwide total of $1.097 billion, making it the 9th highest-grossing film of all time, beating out The Dark Knight.
Let's take a look at how the Top 3 did this weekend...
1. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
Knocking it out of the park this week was Marvel Studio's latest Phase 2 film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, bringing in an astonishing $95 million. Combined with the foreign grosses, which were more than twice the domestic, CA:TWS has already made a worldwide total of $302.1 million. This makes it the highest-grossing April opening weekend of all time. It has also beat the original film's foreign market total in just three days.
1. NOAH
2. DIVERGENT
Here's a quick rundown of this weekends results:
#1 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier - $95,023,721
#2 - Noah - $17,045,744
#3 - Divergent - $12,976,413
