Weekend Roundup: Box Office Results for 4/25-4/27

       

Welcome to another edition of WEEKEND ROUNDUP, where we discuss this weekends box office results.  The TOP 3 this weekend were The Other Woman, Heaven Is For Real, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

This week's new comedy, The Other Woman, managed to out do the box office juggernaut, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, pushing it down to the #2 spot.  This, however, didn't stop CA:TWS from becoming the highest-grossing April release of all time.  Last week's religious-themed hit, Heaven Is For Real, was able to knock out Rio 2 to hold on to a spot in the Top 3 for another week.

Let's take a look at how the Top 3 did this weekend...

1. THE OTHER WOMAN

This year's newest comedy, The Other Woman, has taken the box office by storm, beating out Marvel's most recent juggernaut, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  It managed to bring in $24.7 million on a $40 million production budget.  Combined with the foreign grosses, it's worldwide total came out to $45.2 million.  This is quite an impressive opening for this film, but can it keep it up?

2. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

Marvel Studio's latest Phase 2 film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, has brought in another $16.2 million this week, putting its domestic total at $225 million and it's worldwide total at $645.3 million.  It has officially beat out the worldwide totals for both Iron Man 2 and Thor: The Dark World.  This makes it the third highest-grossing Marvel Studios film, right behind The Avengers and Iron Man 3.

3. HEAVEN IS FOR REAL

Coming in at the #3 spot is Heaven Is For Real.  Based on the true story from the New York Times #1 bestseller of the same name, this film has definitely held the audience's attention.  Bringing in $14.3 million, Heaven Is For Real managed to push out Rio 2 from the Top 3, making its worldwide total $52.7 million.

Here's a quick rundown of this weekends results:

#1 - The Other Woman - $24,763,752

#2 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier - $16,219,025

#3 - Heaven Is For Real- $14,351,252
