TBT: Sam Raimi's THE EVIL DEAD

The Evil Dead.  What can I say about this classic that hasn't already been said.  I've loved this movie ever since I was 6 years old.  It introduced the amazing Bruce Campbell into my life and added the word 'Groovy!' into my vocabulary.  Sam Raimi's directorial debut is a special one.  Loved by millions, and spawning two sequels, a reboot and even a hit musical, The Evil Dead is one of those films that will live forever, and rightly so.

TBT: Peter Jackson's BAD TASTE

On this week's Throwback Thursday, we take a look at a great director.  You may know him best from his incredible work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the more recent The Hobbit trilogy, but Peter Jackson's start did not including elves, dwarves, or magic at all, instead he took a stab at a classic genre, alien invasion, with his very bloody, splatter horror/comedy, Bad Taste.

Throwback Thursday: Joss Whedon's SERENITY

Joss Whedon is a god in the geek circles.  This fame came originally from his work in television, on shows such as Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and my personal favorite, Firefly.  But more recently his fame has grown due to his success with Marvel's big team-up film, The Avengers.  Whedon's jump into the world of film was a very personal one, with Serenity, the big screen sequel to his cult-favorite series Firefly.

Throwback Thursday: Alien 3

David Fincher

Alien 3 isn't a masterpiece but I commend David Fincher for taking on the challenge of following Ridley Scott's ALIEN and James Cameron's ALIENS. At the time he had only directed a couple of music videos but still he took on the challenge of continuing the Alien series what is considered one of the best scifi series to date.
