Safe House

Daniel Espinosa

This isn't Espinosa's first feature film but it is his first American film. Like many other critics or reviewers would say Safe House is very much an average thriller suspense action film, I'd have to agree. It does shine though with its cast, the performances by Ryan Reynolds playing CIA agent Matt Weston and veteran actor Denzel Washington playing ex-CIA agent Tobin Frost are very good and they have a very well rounded supporting cast including Brendan Gleeson, Vera Farmiga, Ruben Blades, and even Robert Patrick helping them out as well. Like I said its a very average thriller but it does have some very good action scenes that will keep you enthralled and some twists that even I wasn't expecting. I'd definitely recommend if you are a fan of the genre or of the cast but you can wait for the DVD if you want to.
