IT GIVES US CLUES TO A FILM THAT IS STILL INCOMPLETE. IT GIVES US A INSIDE LOOK AT A PINNACLE FILM IN FILM HISTORY. A LARGELY INFLUENTIAL AND GROUNDBREAKING FILM. THAT I JUST HAPPENED TO WRITE A 20 PAGE PAPER ON. BUT, I WROTE THAT PAPER FOR A REASON. SO, HERE'S THAT LINK.
If you haven't seen the film yet. I'm pretty sure the "complete" cut is on Netflix. Don't be thrown off by some of the scratchier looking scenes. Those were recently recovered from a poorly maintained film collection in South America and is a perfect example of the importance of film preservation. At the time Metropolis was set to be the longest films ever shot and the re-piecing process has been a long and difficult one. But, with every new piece found and cut in another aspect of our hero is revealed . Another side of the story is told developing a much deeper story than previous imagined. This newly discovered program is just another piece to the puzzle that is Metropolis.
